What is the last day for fall registration?
The Pierce County Skills Center has an open enrollment policy. We will accept applications until mid-November for the first semester. We cannot take new applicants after this time due to the fact that the students will not have enough “seat time” in the course to receive credit.
When will students know of their acceptance?
Letters will be mailed home as soon as your application has been processed.
Can students attend either semester only (entry and exit at mid semester)?
It is encouraged that students register for the full year. A couple of the courses will allow mid year entry/exit.
Will all classes offer accommodations (DigiPen, Medical Careers, and Environmental Explorations)?
Yes, we will follow the letter of the law and be in full compliance with the federal/state requirements (see IEP and 504 plans on the applications).
Will the PCSC courses be cross credited?
Yes, all courses will combine at a minimum partial cross credit. We will have specifics shortly.
Will texts be provided for students or will they be required to purchase them?
Yes, texts will be available to all PCSC students at no cost.
To what age can students attend? Same as high schools?
Students can attend the Skill Center up through high school graduation up until the age of 21.
How will my student receive their other required credits?
Each student will attend the skills center in one of two sessions, eiither the morning or afternoon. The rest of the day the student will still attend their home high school.
What calendar does my student follow?
The PCSC follows the Bethel School District calendar, including late arrival days. Students attending the am session will not attend on those days. Students attending the PM session will attend their regular PCSC class.
Have calendar and times for sessions been established?
Times are as follows: 7:55 a.m. - 10:25 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. (school year)
